  • Hi Jack, great initiative! Could the app be adapted to benefit event venues or conference halls by e.g. including other types of waste? We'd love to know more about how you see this also fitting with some of the solutions already submitted on the challenge (e.g. how could the app enable an event- or even city-wide local currency? https://circle-lab.com/node/87)

  • Thank you Yasmina, Definitely. We believe in commercial sustainability. That is why we have created reGAIN APP as "recycling rewarded" scheme. Initially we focus on awarding people with discount coupons for sustainable recycling of post consumer textiles. However discount coupons are not only products but experiences such as travel as well. I can imaging all sorts of solutions being created using our model.

  • Great concept Jack. I wonder if there's scope for discount coupons to be valid at participating venues? For example, money off future events, food & drink (on site or local partnering businesses), travel to the venue etc? Incentivises behavioural change, rewards loyalty and encourages repeat business.

  • closing the loop with incentives, I like it!
Jack - I'm wondering what items you might imagine would be reGAINED during or after an event?
Event attendees collectively would hold a large number of items - related to information sharing (programs, tickets etc) or food and beverage consumption, but these items have been distributed - how do you think reGAIN's hub and return system would work in this case? Would a lower the number of items make the returns process inefficient? Should event organisers have the responsibility to collect the items into larger lots for recycling?

  • Thanks for thinking through how the app could be adapted to the context of the challenge, Keely! We've included this idea into the loyalty programme/local currency solution as we think the app itself could provide a good IT infrastructure to support that solution. Here's where you can continue that conversation if you'd like :) https://circle-lab.com/node/87

  • Event organisers are more likely to have large amounts of "waste" - leftover programs, gift bags, food containers, water bottles, stage sets, props and decorations. This is a highly mixed recycling base - how does a incentive scheme help sort or redistribute these to be recycled or reused more effectively?
