Choose local food in any event that is made in citty, and also, if it is possible, made an agreement with local and ecologic food producers in order to promote their business.

  • Hi Matilde, thanks for your idea. It would be interesting to explore ways to encourage catering companies, and those that commission catering such as venues and events organisers, to adopt healthy and sustainable food policies. Do you have any examples you could share? One I'm aware of is the 2009 organising committee of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. They adopted a London 2012 Food Vision, setting out their commitments to use - for example - sustainable fish; British and seasonal food; Fairtrade tea, coffee, chocolate, sugar and bananas; higher animal welfare chicken and pork products - including free range eggs; and food that promotes health and wellbeing. It would be interesting to learn more about the impact.
