Imagine a fashion lab that brings together fashion students, people from fashion industry (designers, engineers etc.), related sector stakeholders, consumers, academia, NGOs and fosters collaboration with an experimental approach where fashion students be aware of challenges in the industry from the first hand and learn by experience of others. Co-creation sessions on re-use and up-cycle methodoligies can be conducted during lab meet-ups.
Inspired by Otto Scharmer's social labs I believe that holistic perspectives and collaboration can provide systematic change in the fashion industry. Fashion students future employees in the textile value chain should be aware of problems to find the solutions blended with their academic knowledge.
